Accessibility Design Guide 2024
has been published by Alberta Municipal Affairs, with the assistance of
the Safety Codes Council, the Barrier-Free Sub-Council and its

purpose of this Variance is to allow the acceptance of CSA B52:23,

2023 Alberta Edition (NBC(AE)). The manufacture of products
containing certain hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) will be prohibited by new
standards that will come into effect on January 1, 2025. To
conform to these new rules, the 2023 edition of the CSA B52 code
introduced the A2L and B2L refrigerant groups as more environmentally
friendly refrigerants. The NBC(AE), however, currently
references the 2018 edition of the CSA B52 Code. To align with the HFC
prohibition and industry’s change in supply of HVAC equipment across
Canada, it is necessary for the NBC(AE) to recognize the CSA B52:23
edition of the Code. |
